Investigative Laboratory Medicine Position (any rank)
The Department of Pathology (http://path.upmc.edu) at the University of Pittsburgh and Children's Hospital (CHP) of Pittsburgh of UPMC is seeking an academic investigator. This person would also be the director the clinical laboratory operations at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC. The position will include appointment in the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine as Assistant, Associate, or full Professor. The candidate must have an M.D. and/or Ph.D. with appropriate board certification/eligibility; experience in a pediatric hospital-based service is beneficial. Applicants are expected to have or develop an externally-funded research program. Research may be in basic or translation science or in informatics and the topic of investigation need not be linked to clinical duties.
Preference will be given to those research interests mesh with ongoing efforts at CHP (http://www.chp.edu/research/01_research_areas.php). Clinical responsibilities will include limited attending duties directing the clinical laboratory service within a large integrated multi-hospital clinical laboratory service; research time will be protected. Other duties will include teaching medical students, residents, and fellows in clinical pathology. Academic rank, tenure and salary will be commensurate with experience; attractive transition packages will be craft to fit circumstances. Eligibility for medical licensure in Pennsylvania is required.
