Professor Molecular Diagnostics/ Molecular Pathology

The Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at the University of Minnesota has an opening at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor in molecular diagnostics/ molecular pathology. Academic rank and appointment type will be based on qualifications and experience. Minimum requirements are MD or equivalent degree and eligibility for licensure in the State of Minnesota, or a Ph.D. in a biological science, a minimum of one year of post-doctoral experience in molecular biology, and a training background in human molecular genetic pathology and molecular diagnostics. Board eligibility or certification by the American Board of Pathology and American Board of Medical Genetics is preferred.

The successful candidate will have a major service responsibility in the Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory. This laboratory is among the most sophisticated clinical molecular diagnostic units in the country delivering comprehensive clinical molecular genetic testing service at the University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview and to substantial outreach referral clients across the country. The candidate will be involved in the development and implementation of new diagnostic tests, technician oversight of clinical test performance and research studies related to the clinical laboratory.

The successful candidate will teach residents, medical students and graduate students and is encouraged to pursue research and other academic or scholarly activities commensurate with the appointment.
