The
Division of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at Children’s National Medical
Center, (CNMC), and the Department of Pediatrics and Pathology at the George
Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences has an immediate
opening for an accomplished board certified or eligible pathologist with
specific interest in clinical pathology and transfusion medicine. The chosen candidate will participate in
innovative, diagnostic test development with an emphasis on the specialized
testing needed for our expanding hospital services. The successful candidate should have
excellent diagnostic abilities in laboratory and transfusion medicine, strong
administrative and communication skills and a commitment to teaching and
scholarly activities. Collaboration with
clinicians and scientists within the Children’s Research Institute, our NIH
funded GCRC and the Institute of Biomedical Sciences at George Washington
University is expected.
The
Division of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology serves CNMC’s expanding hospital,
regional outpatient sites and several ancillary pediatric practices. We perform over 900,000 tests annually. Our focus areas are in point of care testing,
transfusion medicine, molecular diagnostics and tandem mass spectrometry. An active teaching program includes residents/fellows
for pediatric laboratory medicine training from George Washington University
School of Medicine, Georgetown University School of Medicine, Walter Reed Army Medical
Center, Bethesda Naval
Hospital, Howard
University School of Medicine, the National Institutes of Health, and the
hematopathology program of the NCI.
Academic
appointment at the level of assistant or associate professor, nontenure track,
is envisioned, depending on the qualifications, experience and scholarly
accomplishes of the candidate.
