Director of Laboratory Medicine

NEWARK, NEW JERSEY (USA). The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at UMDNJ - New Jersey Medical School is seeking a Director of Laboratory Medicine at University Hospital in Newark, New Jersey. The candidate must have an MD, MD/PhD, or DO degree and be board certified in Clinical Pathology. Responsibilities, in addition to the overall supervision of the Division of Laboratory Medicine, will include clinical service, teaching residents and medical students and research. A working knowledge of the major divisions of Laboratory Medicine and experience in laboratory administration and regulatory compliance is required. Although a funded research program is not required, the successful candidate will have a track record of academic accomplishment, including scholarly publication, suitable for appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor.

University Hospital, a 503 bed tertiary care hospital, is the major teaching and clinical site of the New Jersey Medical School and is contiguous with it. The Division of Laboratory Medicine has 110 employees and performs 1.5 million billable tests per year.
