Director of Blood Bank/Transfusion Medicine
The Department of Pathology at SUNY Upstate Medical University seeks an academic Transfusion Medicine specialist to direct the blood bank and stem cell/histocompatability laboratory at University Hospital, and serve as associate director of hemapheresis services. Upstate Medical University is a tertiary care center with active trauma, surgery and oncology programs, in addition to a new pediatric hospital that is currently under construction. This individual will also participate in educational programs as they relate to medical students, pathology residents, medical technology students, and the Transfusion Medicine Fellowship program. Research activities are strongly encouraged and additional funding may be available for an individual with a proven research record. Candidates should be certified by the American Board of Pathology (AP/CP or CP), have a minimum of four years experience in transfusion medicine/immunohematology, and/or have received related training within the last six years. A history of scholarly activity and experience in laboratory management are desired. They must possess or be eligible to obtain a New York State medical license and Department of Health Certificate of Qualification. Multidiscipline trained candidates may be considered.
