Medical Director, Hepatitis/Retrovirus Laboratory University of Utah School of Medicine and ARUP Laboratories

The Department of Pathology at the University of Utah and ARUP Laboratories is seeking one or more faculty to serve as medical directors in the area of viral hepatitis and retrovirus testing. The candidates should hold an M.D, Ph.D, or both and be board certified (or eligible/qualified) by ABCC, ABMLI, or ABP. The successful candidate must also have a record of scholarly activity. Highly desirable is expertise in clinical or basic research, and the ability to secure federal grants in viral hepatitis or retrovirus research.

ARUP Laboratories (aruplab.com) is a national reference laboratory and a worldwide leader in innovative laboratory research and development. ARUP offers an extensive test menu of highly complex and unique medical tests in clinical and anatomic pathology. The faculty members will direct the efforts of an ARUP laboratory that performs analyses in the areas of viral hepatitis and retrovirus testing using automated immunoassay, Western blotting, immunoblotting, and molecular techniques. Successful candidates will have expertise in assay validation, clinical interpretation of laboratory results, consultation with physicians, resident and fellow education, and experience in quality control and quality assurance. Individuals eligible for the Assistant or Associate Professor level are preferred.
