Medical Director - Microbiology and Molecular Diagnostics
The Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology of Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC) and Hennepin Faculty Associates (HFA) is seeking a Medical Director for their Microbiology and Molecular Diagnostic Divisions. The successful candidate will be responsible for oversight of the Microbiology and Molecular laboratories, development and implementation of new diagnostic testing, clinical consultation, and teaching of residents and fellows. The candidate will also be encouraged to pursue research. The Microbiology laboratory is a full-service laboratory encompassing bacteriology, mycobacteriology, virology, mycology, and parasitology. The Molecular Diagnostics laboratory currently focuses on molecular microbiology testing. The incumbent Director will be responsible for expanding the testing menu in the Molecular Diagnostic laboratory.
Minimal requirements include a PhD with completion of a Clinical Microbiology post-doctorate fellowship and expertise in molecular diagnostic testing. Certification (or eligibility) by the American Board of Medical Microbiology is required. Certification (or eligibility) in Molecular Diagnostics by either the American Board of Medical Genetics or the American Board of Clinical Chemistry is preferred
HCMC is a 400-bed community teaching hospital located in downtown Minneapolis and is affiliated with the University of Minnesota.
