    General

    Summer Research Opportunity Program (SROP) is a summer program designed to prepare undergraduates for graduate study through intensive research experiences with faculty mentors and enrichment activities.

    The Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internship (SULI) program encourages undergraduate students to pursue science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) careers by providing research experiences at the Department of Energy (DOE) National Laboratories.

    Winter/Spring - these are 15-16 week internships that generally start in early January. The application site should open on August 17 or early next week and will close on Oct 1. Labs can make offers from mid October to late November for the team starting in January.

    Summer - these are 10 week internships that start in late May or mid-June. Students can apply start applying on Oct 16. The last day to submit a completed application is January 10, 2013. LSAMP students applying for summer can receive NSF supplemental funding to support their appointment. This past summer we had two LSAMP students one from PSU and one from UW.

    The UW Amgen Scholars Program provides a transformative opportunity for some of the nation's top undergraduates to explore and prepare for careers in scientific research.

    The Summer Medical Dental Education Program (SMDEP) is a six-week enrichment program for talented underrepresented college freshmen and sophomores interested in medicine or dentistry. The program will offer each scholar intensive enrichment in core science courses, clinical exposure, mentor shadowing and much more. The UW simultaneously aims to provide its participants with a deeper understanding of the needs of underserved communities within a supportive and diverse environment. The UW SMDEP has a 23 year proven record of success among our graduates. As of 2011, 870 of our SMDEP graduates have gone on to medical school or dental school.
