Our Team
Dr. James Feathers is the director of the UW Luminescence Lab. He is a professionally trained archaeologist with a profound interest in the development and creative application of luminescence methods in contexts where other dating methods are impractical. To this end, he has worked with researchers and materials from around the globe. His current research projects are likewise numerous and varied, but changes in ceramic technology in the southeastern US and Paleoindian sites in Brazil are perhaps principal among them.

Aksel Casson is a graduate student researcher at the lab. His interests center on the earliest agriculture and ceramic manufacture in the Middle East and Turkey.

Jack Johnson is a graduate student researcher at the lab. His interests center on the link between environmental and economic changes along the ancient coast of Peru.

Our Work

Researchers at the UW Luminescence Lab are currently involved as principal investigators in several research projects around the world, and are always looking for new challenges to take on. Interested parties are welcome to contact us directly for more information on our current work.

Our dating services are available for a fee to those in need of luminescence data for their own samples. Information on collecting and submitting samples is given by a link at left. Individuals in need of additional information are welcome to contact us directly with specific questions. In addition, we happily work as consultants on the projects of others, and we specialize in lending our dating expertise to researchers from all disciplinary backgrounds confronted by unique challenges in understanding study area chronology.
