Mapping Youth Journeys
August 21st, 2010Mapping Youth Journeys is a research, education, and civic engagement initiative that seeks to realize the potential of interactive geovisualization technologies in geography education. This project explores the promise of new technologies to promote and enhance geography education while deepening youth understanding of the geographies that comprise their everyday experiences. The goal of the project is to develop, evaluate, and disseminate a web-based platform enabling young people to carry out simple mapping functions based off of an actively engaging 10-week curriculum. It was founded by Professors Katharyne Mitchell and Sarah Elwood at the University of Washington. The project is currently in its second phase.
