Are you interested in marine biology at the University of Washington (UW)?
Earn a minor in marine biology and learn about marine organisms, ecosystems, and conservation from the perspectives of three different fields: Biology, Oceanography, and Aquatic & Fishery Sciences. Coursework in the minor also includes exciting hands-on learning opportunities, such as field trips, internships, research with faculty, courses at the Friday Harbor Laboratories, and research in tandem with study abroad programs.
We encourage students to declare the Marine Biology minor upon entering the UW and immediately join our small community of dedicated faculty and students. While undergraduate students interested in studying marine biology often pursue degrees in Biology, Oceanography, and Aquatic & Fishery Sciences, we invite all UW students interested in the subject to pursue the Marine Biology minor, regardless of their majors.
In addition to the minor, the UW has many opportunities for students and UW community members to explore the marine environment through courses and events offered through programs and departments in the Environmental and Biological Sciences.
