A3 Lesson/Tutorial  In an iron-carbon phase diagram for steels, A3 is the line that represents the boundary between the austenite and ferrite + austenite phases.  This line begins at 912°C and 0% carbon and ends at the eutectic point (727°C, .77% carbon).
