Extrusion Lesson/Tutorial | This is a forming operation where a metal bar is pushed by a ram through a die (a die is to metal forming as a cookie cutter is to baking cookies). When the extruded piece of metal comes out the other end of the die it has the desired shape and reduced cross-sectional area. Rods and tubing are made this way. |
