Resilience Lesson/Tutorial Ever heard your parents say, “that person is so resilient,” after they had a huge problem to deal with in their lives?  That person was able to recover quickly.  In materials science resilience is the capacity of a material to absorb energy when it is deformed elastically and then, upon unloading, to release this energy.
