Happy New Year and beginning of Winter Quarter! I hope you all learn a lot, enjoy success, and have fun in the weeks and months ahead.
2nd years: Please review the “Progress-to-Degree” emails that will be sent later this week. If you would like to discuss your plan or talk about Spring Quarter, please make an appointment to see me.

PLANNING AN EVENT?
If you are planning a club event, the MBA Program Office and Foster School have lots of resources available to you. The best place to look is the Student Events Guide on the Current Students Website. It has info on finding a venue, finding funding, serving food and alcohol at your event, and more.
If you would like to request a room please use the Student Event Room Request Web Form.
If you can't find what you need or have any questions, contact Matthew Unruh.
Safety Announcement
With the short days of Winter upon us, please take advantage of the UW's safety programs below.
Husky Nightwalk, 206-685-WALK (9255)
Uniformed security guards operate 6:30 pm-2:00 am, seven days week, 365 days a year, providing a walking escort to community members within the campus locations, the residential area north of 45th street, and to the UW Tower location. They also can assist with building lockouts and jump starts for dead batteries. When members from the campus community need help, call 206.685.WALK (9255). For more information, please see this link.
Husky Night Ride
NightRide is a U-PASS sponsored shuttle service for students, faculty, and staff. Passengers can board the NightRide from any one of six on-campus stops and be dropped off at any requested location within the two shuttle zones. Schedules are prominently displayed at all stops, and schedules are available at information kiosks around campus. NightRide schedules are also available online. Wheelchair-accessible shuttles service both zones. Call 206.685.3146 or visit www.uwshuttles.com for more information about this and other UW shuttle services. Note that NightRide is not available during the summer.
Reminder about the use of Email Lists
Since it’s the beginning of a new quarter, we wanted to reiterate a few guidelines around use of the email listservs:
- mbamail (all Full-time students) and evemba (all evening students) should be used for official communications from the Program office, Career Management, faculty, clubs, centers and other issues that need to be communicated widely.
- The 5 class lists (mba2019, mba2018, evemba2018, evemba2019, evemba2020) should be used for official communications from the Program Office, Career Management, faculty, clubs, centers and other issues that pertain to a specific class (e.g., information relating to a core class or a message just for a certain class).
- If you are trying to reach all full-time students, send to mbamail instead of the 2 individual class lists. For all evening students, use evemba.
- mbabull is the list to use if you are having a party, selling a couch, telling a joke, advertising a fund-raising event, etc.
- All messages, except those to mbabull are moderated and will be sent out if deemed appropriate.
- Messages sent from a non UW email (such as gmail, hotmail) will always be moderated, and may be rejected if it is unclear who the author is.
- Moderated messages are NOT sent out over the weekend.
