General FAQ

How do I reserve a room for an event?
The MBAA has two rooms available in Ballmer for club use during the lunch hour (12:30 – 1:20). Email Eileen Hansen at eileen10@uw.edu to reserve one of these rooms. If your event occurs outside of the lunch hour or if the dedicated MBAA rooms are already reserved, email the Times Scheduling Office at times@uw.edu to request a room for your event.

How do I get reimbursed for an expense that has to be paid from the clubs MBAA account?
Any funds used from your MBAA account will be reimbursed once you fill out the reimbursement form, located under the Administrative section of this website, and forward it to the MBAA Treasurer. Reimbursements can take upto 30 days. Click here for the form.

I've lost my receipts, how do I get reimbursed?
You need to fill out the Pre-jury form thats stored under the Administrative section of this website, and give it to the MBAA Treasurer. Click here for the form.

Where do I obtain a Parking Permit for a speaker event from?
All parking permits can be obtained from the Program Office. You'll have to provide the Program Office with details for that event before they issue you a parking permit. The guest will still have to pay when they come in, but when the guest leaves, s/he should present the parking permit at the gate and s/he will get reimbursed.

Elections FAQ

Can I run for an elected position even though I'm planning on studying abroad?
It's our (current MBAA council) position that the choice between UW MBA student government and studying abroad should be approached as a trade off. Most student government positions entail a significant time commitment during autumn quarter, and it is very difficult (if not impossible) to meet this commitment from another country. So, we recommend choosing one or the other.
If you do want to both study abroad and hold an elected position, we recommend against running for a position with a large autumn quarter time commitment. Also, we ask that you're upfront about your plans to study abroad and indicate it in your candidacy speech. Finally, you should find someone to serve in your place during autumn quarter, and be prepared to identify this person during your candidacy speech.

If I get elected into a position (MBAA or club), when's my official "start date"?
You will officially assume your new role no later than the first day of spring quarter. However, each club manages this process differently -- in some clubs, you may begin in your new role in the final weeks of winter quarter. If you're elected to the MBAA council, your official start date is the last MBAA meeting of winter quarter.

I'm planning on running for an MBAA council (exec or VP position) but I cannot make it to the candidacy forum. Am I still eligible?
Yes. You must submit a candidacy statement, but if you have a legitimate schedule conflict with the candidacy forum, than you're still eligible to run for a position. In this case, we highly recommend finding a delegate to speak in your behalf. If you decide to go this route, you should do solid prep with the delegate beforehand.

Who's eligible to vote?
In the MBAA executive team and VP elections, all MBAA members who will be here next year are eligible to vote. This includes all MBAA members who are 1st-year full-time students and all MBAA members who are 1st and 2nd-year evening students. All voting will take place via a Catalyst survey distributed via email. In club elections, all club members are eligible to vote.
