MBAA President

Jason is a MBA candidate for 2012, concentrating in Marketing and Strategy.  His goal for the coming year is to provide structure and transparency to the MBAA so that students have a clear understanding of how the MBAA works and what it can do for them.  He grew up in the Seattle area and received his B.A. in Theatre (minor in Music) from Whitman College.  Deciding to then move into something that might actually support a family, he spent four years at Washington Mutual bringing down the global economy before moving to A.T. Kearney in Boston and then New York to work as a manager in their Data Analytics department.  Jason spends much of his time outside of the program with his wife and 2-year old son, making up for traveling every week for four years.  Following graduation he hopes to continue developing his marketing skills and to eventually land in the video games industry.  He will be interning in a retail management role at Amazon in Seattle for summer 2011.

 

Executive Vice President

Colin is an MBA candidate for 2012, concentrating in Entrepreneurship, Strategy, and Leadership.  As the Executive Vice President, Colin is working closely with the MBA clubs to expand the impact of their events and increase their visibility in the Seattle and national business communities.  With the club leadership, he hopes to create relevant and unique activities that will define and progress the Foster identity.  Colin also serves as the Vice President for Case Competitions for the Strategy Club, is a Board Fellow with the YMCA of Snoqualmie, and coaches the IM soccer team.  Colin grew up in the Chicago area and attended Northwestern University for undergrad before working at an international law firm in professional development in the Chicago and Bay Area offices.  Colin’s favorite spots in the short time he has lived in Seattle are Gasworks Park, the Third Place Café, and Greenlake.  He hopes to work in consulting after graduation and will work at PwC in Advisory in Seattle for summer 2011.

 

Secretary

Jackie has 4 years of experience in the not-for-profit sector, the most recent three years working in a project management role at PATH, a Seattle-based global health organization. During this time, she worked extensively with partners from large aid organizations, the private business sector, and foreign governments to develop software solutions to global health issues. One of the most recent projects that Jackie managed was a collaborative effort between USAID, UNICEF, the Ministries of Health of Kenya and Haiti, and a local software development firm to develop the requirements, design, and launch of a supply chain forecasting software program for vaccines. At Foster, she holds leadership positions on the MBAA Executive Council as well as the Net Impact and Strategy clubs. She is focusing her studies on marketing and strategy, and is also pursuing a certificate in International Development through the University of Washington's Evans School of Public Affairs. 

 

Treasurer

Prior to joining Foster, Jesse spent the past five years working in business development and regional management for an adventure travel company in Europe, Australia and Asia . He earned his BA in Sociology and French from UCLA and currently he is focusing on marketing and entrepreneurship. In addition to serving as Treasurer, he is also the president of the Global Business Association. Jesse is passionate about traveling, cycling, snowboarding and hopes to find a career in one of these industries.

 

VP of Program Development

Anders is a Maine-native who moved to Washington State to attend the University of Washington as a undergraduate. After receiving a degree in International Studies, he worked in Seattle as a political researcher and then in marketing for a small winery out of Yakima. At Foster he is focusing on Global Business, Marketing and Strategy. He is also involved in starting the new Tech Business Club and is one of the organizers of the MBA Huddle. In his free time he enjoys playing soccer, climbing, and wine tasting.

 

VP Business & Community Relations

Jesse is a UW Foster MBA candidate for 2012, concentrating on marketing and finance. His experiences range from logistics and import/export management to fundraising and events management. He has a passion for helping others grow their business, with particular emphasis in using client interaction and relationship management to better understand the clients' changing needs and how best to meet them. He is exploring post-graduation careers in the video game, consulting, and business technology industries, and wants to apply his understanding and experience in marketing, problem solving, and relationship development to help clients solve their business challenges.

 

VP Alumni Affairs

Prior to the Foster MBA program, Steve spent five years in the news media industry, specifically editing and producing news and sports in the Seattle market.  Steve's responsibilities included managing multiple, conflicting editing deadlines while also improving inefficiencies in editing workflow process, through the integration of state-of-the-art technology, to increase the effectiveness of editors and producers at his station.  At Foster, Steve's academic focus is on marketing research and consumer insights, and Steve hopes to gain a deeper understanding of the tools required to conduct fundamental business analysis.  Steve is engaged to his fiancée, Alissa Goldstein, and the proud owner of two dogs.

 

VP of Student Affairs

Prior to joining the Foster MBA program, Matt spent four years in the medical device industry. In his most recent role, Matt directed the operations and business level strategy of a 70+ person, orthopedic manufacturing team. At Foster, Matthew is focused on developing his financial acumen and marketing strategy in preparation for a career transition into business development/product management. Matt holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. Matt is also well known amongst the Foster community for contributing selflessly, in a physical capacity in the name of both charity and the Foster brand. Matt has also developed a intense yet healthy man crush on Sid Sheth.

 

 

 
VP of Student Affairs

Prior to Foster, Sid was a Chemical Engineering major from Purdue and spent time working on beauty products at L’Oreal. He has also spent time working as a tax consultant for the country’s first green tax firm specializing in helping clients secure rebates on energy efficient utilities.  He then found himself working for his family business in India where he wore many hats ranging from that of a production manager to developing next generation composites. At Foster, Sid is concentrating in Operations and Marketing. In his free time he is looking to grow his music collection, one hand-picked album at a time. He also hopes to be a certified private pilot over the summer.  Sid is helped on what is considered to be the most important role on the MBAA, by Matt, and together they ensure that your MBA experience involves more than NPV’s and Porter’s Forces.

 

 

VP of International Affairs

Prior to joining the MBA program, Shekhar worked as a consultant with Infosys Technologies Ltd. His job responsibilities in the company spanned from project management to business development. His worked led him to explore the world from India and Japan in the east to Germany and US in west. At Foster, Shekhar is focusing on Strategy and Marketing. He has completed his Bachelor of Technology in Civil Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi, India. In his free time, Shekhar enjoys music, movies, hiking, running, cricket, sketching, Sudoku.

 

VP of Academic Affairs

Jeremiah Marks is an MBA Candidate for 2012, concentrating in Finance and Strategy. As the VP of Academic affairs Jeremiah will focus on continual improvement of the academic experience within the MBA program. In addition to his studies and MBA responsibilities, Jeremiah teaches financial accounting to potential business students at the University of Washington. Before joining the 2012 MBA program at the University of Washington, Jeremiah worked in both public and private accounting for PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP and Dean Foods. In his spare time Jeremiah enjoys listening to Opera, drinking coffee, and spending time with his beautiful wife Leslie and son, Tristan.

 

VP of Information Technology

Before joining the Foster MBA Program, Saurabh worked in the enterprise software industry as a project lead at Oracle server technologies in Bangalore, India. At Oracle, Saurabh's responsibilities included leading, designing and developing framework related projects and product features. At Foster, Saurabh is focused on marketing and strategy. Saurabh is passionate about technology and is looking forward to leveraging his technical and business skills to work in the exciting and fast changing technology industry.In addition to being the VP of IT,  Saurabh is also part of the executive committee of the newly formed Foster Technology Business club. Outside of school, Saurabh enjoys running, cricket, sudoku, rock music and is developing a liking for Baseball.

VP of Resource Development

After graduating from Cornell University in 2002, Matt spent four years working in the hospitality industry in Southeast Asia and South America.  Upon relocating to Seattle in 2006, he began working in the commercial real estate industry where he remained until enrolling in the Foster MBA program in 2010.  Matt has taken on a variety of leadership roles within the program, but above all else has an affinity for the MBA lounge and making it a better place for his fellow students to interact and relax during their downtime at Paccar Hall. He cleans a fridge with ruthless precision and picks up after his fellow students with a zeal few mothers could match.
