Welcome to the Strategy Club

Strategy is the art of analytically assessing complex and ambiguous issues and providing a well structured recommendation or plan of action. The thought process involved is not something that can be learned in a classroom alone.  The Strategy Club’s mission is to develop world class strategic thinkers that embody the values of the Foster School's Brand. To accomplish this the club primarily focuses on providing experiential learning opportunities for students to bridge the gap between strategic concepts learned in the classroom and the complex challenges faced in today's business environment. Members will be exposed to problems businesses are facing and be provided opportunities to refine their problem solving skills, which will help prepare them for a successful career well beyond their days at Foster.

To accomplish this mission the Strategy Club hosts case competitions and maintains a central repository of information on regional and national case competitions. This past year we planned our first regional case competition where our club hosted 8 teams from business schools all over the Pacific Northwest. We're excited to continue this event and someday expand it into a National case competition to showcase Foster's focus on strategic thinking.

The club also hosts speaker events that bring to light real world business cases from alumni and other local professionals. These are designed as discussion sessions, so students can practice and further develop their problems solving skills

Finally, the club provides students networking opportunities with strategy leaders in the commercial and academic world.

We look forward to your participation! If you have any questions, please contact Scott Heinz.

With best regards,

Scott Heinz
