Career Development

The MCB Program offers the following list of links to assist its graduates in pursuing the next stage of their career development.

1.    The AAAS booklet, "Career Trends:  The Informed Job Search," at www.sciencecareers.org/booklets

2.     Professional Development Events here at the UW, www.grad.washington.edu/profdev/events.shtml

3.     UW Office of Post-doctoral Affairs,  http://depts.washington.edu/pdafrs.index.html

4.     Career Planning Dinners for Graduate Students and Postdocs.  Faculty mentors are encouraged to nominate graduate students and/or post-docs to attend career planning dinners.  The purpose of these dinners (4/year) is to stimulate graduate students and post-docs to think about their careers after completing their degree by providing them with an opportunity to focus together on the topic of leadership.  Approximately 30 applicants will be accepted to attend these dinners.  Contact Rick Baugh (crbaugh@crbaugh.com) with the subject line,  “Request Career Planning Dinner Application”., and he will send you the application form as an email attachment.  Then ask your faculty mentor to fill it out and submit it through the proper channels.
