Clark, Edward A "Host Defense to Cancer" is offered during the first 5 weeks of Spring Quarter during ODD numbered years only -- 2011, 2013, etc. A two-part course, 533 is offered on alternate years with Immun 535 "Host Defense to Infection", which is offered in EVEN numbered years only -- 2010, 2012, etc. Course chair for both is Dr. Edward A. Clark. This course addresses the biology and pathobiology of lymphocyte quiescence, programmed cell death, immune surveillance, immune regulation, anti-cancer immunotherapy and vaccines, bone marrow and stem cell transplantation, and immunity to infections observed in compromised hosts such as HIV.
