Bioscience Careers Seminar
From Academia to Industry
Sarah Sanowar, Ph.D.
Senior Research Associate, Genentech, South San Francisco, CA
Work environments are becoming more diverse involving multidisciplinary collaborations in academia and in industry. Although each has distinctive ways of research, work and reward, graduate students and postdoctoral fellows are well prepared for scientific careers in either. Dr. Sarah Sanowar will discuss her career path from graduate student and postdocotoral fellow in microbial pathogenesis to Senior Research Associate of Antibody Engineering at the biotech company Genentech, highlighting differences to consider and how to successfully transition to industry.
