I am investigating the contribution of electrical synapses in modulation between neural circuits. Modulation of circuits is important as it plays a key role in altering thought and behavior in response to learned experiences. One of the open questions in systems neuroscience is how the behavior of one circuit affects that of another. One possible mechanism of modulation is through electrical synapses. I am using C. elegans to explore this possibility.
