I study how cells internalize transmembrane receptors via clathrin-mediated endocytosis. Our lab focuses specifically on one clathrin adaptor, Dab2, which links receptors containing NPxY sequences to clathrin and other components of the endocytic machinery. Using mass spectrometry, I have identified novel Dab2-binding proteins with a role in endocytosis. I characterized the function of the F-BAR protein FCHO2 and the importance of its bond with Dab2. I am currently working to learn more detail about the interaction between Dab2 and FCHO2 and how Dab2 activity is regulated.
