D2-109, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center
Our laboratory uses a variety of biochemical, cell- and organism-based strategies for the identification of biologically active compounds and their targets. While cancer-related screens dominate our efforts, we have also been involved in many collaborative screens for activities unrelated to cancer. We apply medicinal chemistry strategies to improve potency and pharmacological properties of lead compounds. In case of phenotypic screens, we also devote signficant efforts to identify the target of the active compound and to understand its mechanism of action.
