I study a subset of helper (CD4) T cells that undergo a process in which the T cell receptor (TCR) revises. Normally TCRs form during T cell development as a result of gene rearrangement. These T cells revise their TCRs to become tolerant to an endogenous super antigen. I am studying the phenotype of these cells to determine whether they are follicular helper T cells, which are the T cells involved in direct B cell - T cell interactions. In addition, I am studying whether these B cell - T cell interactions are necessary for TCR revision to occur.
