Molly Altman, MN, CNM, MPH, (Class of 2006) is first author of the article "Prolonged second stage of labor and risk of adverse maternal and perinatal outcomes: A systematic review," published in the December 2006 issue of Birth.
Jodi Koumouitzes-Douvia, MPH, (Class of 2003) is first author of the article "Women's perceptions of their doula support," published in the Fall 2006 issue of the Journal of Perinatal Education.
Silvia Tejeda, MPH, (Class of 2002) is first author of the article "A cervical cancer curriculum for Hispanic adolescents in rural high schools: A pilot study," published in the November 2006 issue of Journal of Health Care for the Poor and Underserved.

Irvin Emanuel, MA, MS, MD, gave the Distinguished Faculty Lecture on "What History Tells Us About Maternal and Child Health," November 28, 2006.
Dr. Emanuel is Professor Emeritus of Epidemiology and Pediatrics and former director of the Maternal and Child Public Health Leadership Training Program. The event was sponsored by the School of Public Health and Community Medicine.

Melissa Schiff, MD, MPH, is first author of the article "Adverse perinatal outcomes and risk for postpartum suicide attempt in Washington State, 1987 - 2001, published in the September 2006 issue of Pediatrics.
Anne Reeves, MPH, (Class of 2004) is first author of the article "Total body weight and waist circumference associated with chronic periodontitis among adolescents in the United State," published in the September 2006 issue of the Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine.
Nadia Nijim, MSW, MPH, (Class of 2005) has been accepted into the 2006 Class of Prevention Specialists. This 3-year program, offered through the Center for Disease Control and Prevention's Public Health Prevention Service, provides one year of training in program planning, implementation, and evaluation; specialized hands-on training and mentorship at CDC; and a paid 2-year field assignment at state and local health agencies.

Katy Payne, MSW, MPH, (Class of 2006) received the Department of Health Services' 2006 Outstanding Student Award.
M. Rosa Solorio, MPH, (Class of 1999) is first author of the article "Newly homeless youth STD testing patterns over time," published in September 2006 Journal of Adolescent Health.
Yoo-Lee Yea, DDS, (Class of 2006) received her Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry, MSD, and MPH degrees during the 59th Annual Session of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD). The academy recognized Dr. Yea and two other postdoctoral students for completing their research as OMNII AAPD Postdoctoral Fellowship awardees. Dr. Yea conducted research entitled "A Comparison of Early Childhood Caries Risk Assessment Tools in a Pediatric Setting" under the guidance of Colleen Huebner, PhD, MPH, Director of the MCH Program.
Irvin Emanuel, MD, Professor Emeritus of Epidemiology and Pediatrics, and former director of the MCH Program, was the keynote speaker for the Society for Pediatric and Perinatal Epidemiologic Research 19th Annual Meeting, held in Seattle, June 20-21, 2006. His address was on "What history tells us about maternal and child health."
