An ambitious venture known as The History Project was launched in 1999.
A team of dedicated UW Medicine alumni from 1950 through 1964 have worked diligently to collect stories, photos, and biographies from their classmates. The result is a trove of information about the early years of medical school that we will keep for posterity.
For each 50th reunion, excerpts from the complete history files are taken and compiled in a printed booklet for those classmates. So far, the classes of 1950, 1951, 1952, 1953, 1954, 1955, and 1956 have celebrated their 50th reunions. The 50-Year Association recognizes and pays tribute to their long-term relationship with the school and their dedication and commitment to the medical profession. The 50th class is honored as part of the All-School Celebration banquet program, and each class member is presented with an honor cord, a certificate, and a special 50-Year Association gold lapel pin.
Complete information on other classes and all of the history files collected thus far, are stored at the UW Medicine Alumni office. Contact the office for an appointment to review the files.
