It ties with Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia for this year’s No. 10 spot. The magazine also rates specialties, and several programs at UWMC were ranked highly, including: rehabilitation (2), (based at UWMC and Harborview Medical Center); cancer (6); gynecology (11); orthopaedics (13); geriatrics (13); ear, nose and throat (13); respiratory disorders (16); kidney disease (16); gastrointestinal disorders (20); rheumatology (22); neurology/neurosurgery (22), (based at Harborview and UWMC); endocrinology (24); and urology (34). Harborview, owned by King County and operated by the University, ranked 27th in orthopaedics.
The University of Washington School of Medicine ranks No. 1 in primary care. In 2008, for the 15th consecutive year, U.S. News & World Report's annual list of top graduate and professional schools ranked the UW School of Medicine as No. 1 in primary care. The UW also placed in the top 10 in family medicine, rural medicine, AIDS, internal medicine, geriatrics, pediatrics, women's health, and drug/alcohol abuse training.
Report to Donors 2006–2007 Report to Donors 2006–2007 celebrates the individuals and groups who have contributed over the past fiscal year to UW Medicine's mission in education, research, and patient care. Highlighted in this year’s report are the investments our community has made to support research in stem cell and regenerative medicine, to provide scholarship support to diverse medical students from underserved communities, to advance burn research, and to support numerous other investments in our hospitals, patients, and students. Thanks to all of these supporters for being our partner in improving health and changing lives.
