Mini-CEX
The Clinical Examination Exercise, or mini-CEX, is a required clinical examination, similar to the OSCEs of the second year. Unlike the OSCEs, it is done with a real patient complaining of dyspnea, rather than a standardized patient. You should complete the mini-CEX by asking a supervisor (senior resident or attending) to observe you evaluating a patient with dyspnea, complete the mini-CEX form, and give you feedback. The entire process should take 20-30 minutes.
Because the mini-CEX is required, students who do not return a completed mini-CEX to the student program office will recieve an "incomplete" grade for the clerkship until it is done. Also, students who have not completed the mini-CEX by the day of the final exam will be ineligible for honors in the clerkship, regardless of their other grades.
