SIMPLE Virtual Patient Cases

Completion of 12 virtual patient cases is required for the medicine clerkship. Each case takes approximately 45 minutes. Your outpatient or WWAMI rotation may be a good time to focus on these cases.

Please pick at least 12 of these cases. If you want to do additional cases, please do so! When given a choice between 2 cases (e.g. #5. Altered mental status), you should choose one.

  • Case #04 – 67 y/o woman with shortness of breath & lower leg swelling – Mrs. Rivers
  • Case #06 or Case #23
    • Case #06: 45 y/o African-American with hypertension – Mr. Hicks
    • Case #23: 54 y/o Hispanic woman with fatigue – Ms. Torres
  • Case #07 or Case #08
    • Case #07: 28 y/o woman with lightheadedness – Ms. Williams
    • Case #08: 55 y/o Hispanic man Diabetes chronic disease management – Mr. Morales
  • Case #09 – 55 y/o woman with upper abdominal pain and vomiting – Mrs. Turner
  • Case #10 – 48 y/o woman with diarrhea and dizziness – Ms. Blake
  • Case #13 – 65 y/o woman seen for annual physical – Mrs. Thompson

    • Case #18: 75 y/o man with memory problems – Mr. Caldwell
    • Case #25: 75 y/o woman with altered mental status – Mrs. Kohn
  • Case #31 or Case #32
    • Case #31: 40 y/o man with knee pain – Mr. Nelson
    • Case #32: 39 y/o woman with joint pain – Ms. Dickerson
  • Case #23 or Case #33
    • Case #23: 54 y/o Hispanic woman with fatigue – Ms. Torres
    • Case #33: 49 y/o woman with confusion – Mrs. Baxter
  • Case #35 – 35 y/o female with 3 weeks of fever – Ms. Jankowski
