HOW IS MAIL/PHONE HANDLED? Mail can be delivered to each suite or c/o MHCC Administration 111 South 5th St. Douglas, WY 82633. A phone is currently installed in two of the suites (depending on availability with travelling nurses, lab techs, and doctors using these three suites and two other sites.

ARE PAGERS PROVIDED? On request if you cell is not convenient or well covered.

DESCRIPTION OF HOUSING: The Jenny Building is a historic registry building in mid-downtown Douglas. It is 1/2 block from the movie theatre (old time style!). One 1/2 blocks from both the hospital and a grocery store. Living space is about 450 square feet. Photos available from Student Program upon request.

WHAT IS PROVIDED IN APARTMENT/DORMITORY? There is a wireless network suitable for laptops covering all three suites. The student's apartment will include: bed with bedding, storage area, TV, living room furniture including desk and comfortable chair, kitchen with microwave, oven, refrigerator, and a small dining table. The bathroom has shower, sink and toilet (no tub). Meals are available at the hospital without charge or may be cooked in the apartment or obtained from restaurants including two within 3 blocks.

WHAT IS SUGGESTED THAT THE STUDENT BRING? Laptop, seasonal clothing, and sporting gear are all that is needed. Camera for outdoor adventures is a good idea.

TRANSPORTATION: Not absolutely necessary since hospital is so close but a must if traveling alone for elective time since the distances to more than one restaurant are more than an easy walk and weekend outdoor activies along with non-hospital education sites like nursing home and mental health center are too far to walk to expeditiously. There are no cabs and public transportaton is limited. Car rental can be arranged but must be done so in advance (at the Casper, WY airport). Bicycles are comfortable only in the summer and part of the fall.

WILL STUDENT RECEIVE ADDITIONAL NOTIFICATION OR INSTRUCTIONS REGARDING HOUSING BEFORE BEGINNING CLERKSHIP? Yes, a tour will be given the first day and a formal hospital orientation program..

CAN FAMILIES BE ACCOMODATED IN HOUSING? Possible. With very early notice family arrangements may be made at off site location that includes 2 bedroom living areas. Please call Student Program.
