HOUSING ADDRESS: Rockcliffe Apartments, located at 2329 W. Southeast Blvd. Specific address and details will be given to you when you pick up your key packet at Sacred Heart Medical Center. There are a number of different apartments rented by the School of Medicine, and your apartment assignment is not yet established.
HOW IS MAIL/PHONE HANDLED? If in Spokane for just Medicine, you may have your mail forwarded to the apartment (address will be sent to you prior to start of clerkship). Do NOT submit a change of address. If in Spokane longer than 8 weeks, please arrange a local post office box. Calling card is required for long distance.
ARE PAGERS PROVIDED? Yes. Pagers are provided to Spokane student. On-line access is available to students at Sacred Heart and Deaconess hospitals. Comcast Cable is available in the apartments. If you don't have a WiFi card for your laptop you'll need to purchase one. We've found newer wireless cards with USB 2.0 with Windows 2000 and XP are more reliable with this system.
DESCRIPTION OF HOUSING: 2 bedroom, 1-½ bath located in bedrooms (master bath has tub/shower; half bath has toilet and sink only), common living and dining area.
WHAT IS PROVIDED IN APARTMENT/DORMITORY? Kitchen with cooking utensils, microwave, dishwasher. Linens provided (you may want to bring your own). Washer/dryer near apartment office. Workout area in complex.
WHAT IS SUGGESTED THAT THE STUDENT BRING? Clocks (just in case those in apartment don’t work). Music, TV (none provided in apartment). Will need to purchase toiletries (e.g., soap, kleenex, toilet paper, etc.).
TRANSPORTATION: Transportation is necessary -- apartments are 1.8 miles from Sacred Heart.
PARKING FACILITIES? Yes. Free parking provided at apartments and both hospitals.
WILL STUDENT RECEIVE ADDITIONAL NOTIFICATION OR INSTRUCTIONS REGARDING HOUSING BEFORE BEGINNING CLERKSHIP? Yes. Prior to your rotation, detailed instructions will be sent to you as well as a map of the apartment, from Nancy Granlund, the WWAMI housing coordinator in Spokane.
CAN FAMILIES BE ACCOMODATED IN HOUSING?
STUDENTS PLEASE NOTE: There will be no exceptions made to the above housing arrangements. If you have any problems with these arrangements, please contact the Academic Affairs Office.
