Associate Professor
I am a personality and social psychologist trained in research design, measurement, program evaluation, and quantitative and qualitative methods.  I have taught research methods and social psychology at the undergraduate and graduate level.  I have also worked as a contract web designer, before being hired by Microsoft where I was a lead usability engineer with the BackOffice group.  1999 was a year of many changes.

Following graduation with MEDEX Class 36 in 2004 and completing a one-year post-graduate teaching fellowship, I began working on faculty with MEDEX.  After leading the Behavioral Medicine course for several years, I am now course chair of the Patient Management course and I co-chair the Basic Clinical Skills course.  Currently, I work clinically at Group Health in the emergency department.  Prior to that I spent 8 years working in primary care.
I have found MEDEX to be a great environment in which to train and grow.  Each year we expand the MEDEX family with a group of highly motivated students who have spent much of their first career working in communities with unmet needs.  The energy and dedication of our diverse group of students continues to inspire me.

I always knew I wanted to be in the health professions and my decision was made final when I stumbled upon a book in my small hometown library about PAs. I have never looked back since that day.  This is the best profession in the world!  Delivering empathic medical care, exceptional physical examination and diagnosis skills, and comprehensive treatments are among the highlights of this profession.  Teaching future PAs these skills is nothing short of gratifying and a lot of fun!  We work as a team here at MEDEX to deliver high-quality education.

Since 2005 I have worked at MEDEX NW in Basic Clinical Skills, plus giving lectures in some other courses. On becoming faculty in 2010, I joined the Didactic Team, teaching Maternal and Child Health. Over 23 years I’ve worked with the homeless along with battered women and children.  I find it inspiring and gratifying to work with people at critical points in their lives.
