I graduated from the Northeastern University Physician Assistant Program in 1979 when the profession was still in its infancy. For the next seven years I worked in pediatric surgery and primary care in Boston, MA and Baltimore, MD, respectively.
In 1989, I changed course professionally. After graduation from Law School and admission to the Maryland and Delaware Bars, I spent the next 17 years representing healthcare professionals and facilities in medical negligence matters and in claims against insurance companies.
On moving from the east coast to the west, I elected to re-certify as a PA and return to the “kinder and gentler” profession of medicine. From 2008-2012, I had the privilege of working with spinal cord injured veterans at the Seattle VA hospital. As a faculty member at MEDEX, I look forward to working closely with the students to help maximize their clinical experiences and continue the MEDEX tradition of graduating outstanding physician assistants.
