As Administrator of MEDEX Northwest, I am excited to be part of the integration into the Department of Family Medicine, as well as addressing the challenges associated with the expansion of MEDEX throughout the WWAMI region.
My background and education are eclectic and diverse, making me a great fit for MEDEX. After completing a BA in Psychology and Religious Studies from the University of California, Santa Cruz, I attended the University of Virginia and received a Master’s degree in Buddhist Studies. Additionally, I have a Master’s in Social Work from California State University, Long Beach and a Paralegal Certificate from UCLA. As a social worker I worked in acute care and in-patient hospice with People with AIDS, and in home hospice, rehabilitation, geriatric and outpatient settings. I went into social work with the goal of providing mental health services to underserved individuals. My experiences also taught me the value of working collaboratively within a team setting. I strongly believe that we are at our best when we work together, and that all people deserve to be treated with respect and dignity. These values are closely aligned with the MEDEX mission of training individuals from diverse backgrounds to work as physician assistants to provide care to underserved populations.
