Applying to the UW
Do not apply to the University of Washington until you have been accepted to MEDEX. More information regarding how to apply to the UW will be provided to accepted applicants in both degrees upon acceptance to the MEDEX program.
The MEDEX Supplemental Application is available online May 19th through October 1st, 2014 – the 2014-2015 application cycle will open on May 19th.
Information Sessions are held throughout the WWAMI region (dates are posted on the MEDEX website and updated periodically). The Online CASPA Application becomes available in May 2014. The MEDEX Supplemental Application is available online May 19th through October 1st, 2014
Applicants should start collecting:
- Original transcripts
- Other important documents
September 1st, 2014 is the Early Application Deadline: CASPA offers a reduced fee for applicants applying before September 1st. Additionally, submitting both your CASPA and MEDEX applications early triggers the initial review phase of the admissions process.
October 1st, 2014 is the Final Application Deadline: the online MEDEX Supplemental and the online CASPA application including references and transcripts are due for submission.
After the initial review, MEDEX will invite selected applicants for interviews via email or regular mail. Interview dates have not yet been determined, but typically take place from October through January. Selected applicants will need to RSVP; interview dates cannot be changed.
If accepted to the MEDEX program, students will begin an online Anatomy & Physiology refresher course in March. The A&P course is the first part of the didactic (classroom) year and spans both spring and summer quarters; you will complete the course in person, in Seattle, during summer quarter. Previous students have found this required course to be quite time-intensive, although students can continue their regular routines.
From July through August 2015, students from ALL sites will come to the UW Seattle campus to attend summer quarter for the completion of the Anatomy & Physiology and the Basic Science review courses.
