MEDEX students from Seattle class 46 rallied together to raise awareness and funds to support the American Diabetes Association in the Tour de Cure cycling ride in Redmond on May 11th, 2013. Inspired by some of the lectures and classroom discussions focused on diabetes during spring quarter, the group came together to raise $2,327 in support of the ADA’s mission to fund research, community services and advocacy for patients with diabetes. Fourteen students and family members rode the 25 mile route around Lake Sammamish or the 100 mile route through the eastside, taking advantage of great spring weather to have the opportunity to raise awareness about diabetes, support our future patients and take an afternoon off from studying to enjoy being together as classmates, friends and colleagues. Thanks to all of the support we received from our friends and family members, especially MEDEX faculty member Ky Haverkamp, PA-C.
