Alicia Quella, a faculty member at the MEDEX Northwest Spokane site, took a group of five physician assistant students to prepare and serve a meal at the Ronald McDonald House. The meal served over 40 families who were currently staying at the house while one their children was receiving medical treatment at a local hospital. They prepared pasta, cheese bread, salad and a delicious dessert. They also made up 50 snack packs that families could grab for those long days at the hospital.
“We had a humbling experience”, said participating MEDEX Spokane student Harry Lawrence. “During our service, the Ronald McDonald House was completely full, and we were able to offer an opportunity for families to come together and enjoy a meal after a long day with their loved ones in the hospitals.”
