SEATTLE CLASS 21 Class Rep: Gloria Padilla Theresa Carnes’s last name has changed; she is now Theresa Moller. She is working for Kaiser Permanente in internal medicine at the Tualatin Clinic in Tualatin, Oreg. Her email address is tessiemoller@aol.com. Veronica Stephan and her husband, Marc, were married in October 2001 after moving to Florida. They met through MEDEX Northwest, and courted for 14 years. Veronica was the senior lead PA for the bone marrow transplant team at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa. In January 2003, she was promoted to director for midlevel practice at the cancer center, a new position created for her. SEATTLE CLASS 25 Class Reps: Heidi Munro, khmunro@cs.com, and Terry Scott, tscott@u.washington.edu David Buchanan and his family left China when the SARS outbreak suspended their Peace Corps program. While SARS was not a significant problem in their part of the country, says David, leaving was a good choice. They accepted reassignment to Macedonia for the remainder of their contract, and relocated in June 2003. Macedonia, a former Yugoslavian province, is not entirely stable, but the Buchanans say they are looking forward to new challenges. You can contact David by email at dbuch5@hotmail.com. Dan Cosgro is living in Bend, Oreg. After seven years in urgent care practice, Dan got a new position almost a year ago working with a surgeon. Greg Davenport recently spent a week in the field with ABC’s Primetime Thursday and correspondent, John Quinones. The segment, which aired July 31, 2003, followed two young hikers as they learned to survive in the wilderness. Greg trained as a survival instructor in the military, and has taught courses and written several guides on staying alive in freezing weather, in coastal and open waters, in the woods, and in the desert. He is currently working as an emergency department PA at Southwest Washington Medical Center in Vancouver, Wash. Terry Scott is the proud father of Sarah Branne, born in December 2002.
SEATTLE CLASS 30 Class Reps: Kim Emery, kemery@uwpn.org, and Michael Tooley Don Culbertson was married to Valerie Breuvart on June 27, 2003 in Paris. Ed Medina and his family have lived in Cameroon for several years, enjoying the experience of providing care and training. They have been joined by three Cameroonian medical students, two English medical students, and four nursing students from the Netherlands. SEATTLE CLASS 31 Class Rep: Joel Rhyner Martin Buccieri lives in Seattle and is enjoying his work at Harborview Medical Center in inpatient psychiatry. Cameron Byers practices at Banner Churchill County Hospital in Fallon, Nev. He was featured in the local news last March when he correctly diagnosed an infant’s mysterious health problems. The baby, who had breathing problems and persistent coughing, had been seen eight times by clinic physicians. They diagnosed her with a respiratory infection. When Cameron saw the patient, he suggested a chest X-ray. The X-ray revealed that a penny stuck in her throat. The penny was removed and the baby got well. That’s great PA press, Cameron! Sarah Wilborn had a baby girl, Elizabeth Rose Perry, on March 13, 2003. Sarah is working at the Swinomish Tribal Clinic and at Western Washington University part-time. She reports that she is happy and healthy, and says hello to her fellow alumni.
