Research Profile:

My research in the laboratory of Dr. Mary-Claire King is dedicated to understanding the complex genetics of breast cancer.  We identify breast cancer genes in families and populations using state-of-the art genomic technologies.  We investigate the cellular function of these genes using a wide array of cellular, molecular and biochemical techniques.  By identifying breast cancer genes and deciphering their cellular function we hope to contribute to the development of molecular markers of early breast tumorigenesis and clinical therapies.  Our motivation has been and continues to be the hope that understanding the cellular function of breast cancer genes will pave the road to ultimately eliminating breast cancer mortality..

Investigator:  Dr. Welcsh is an Research Assistant Professor of Medicine (Medical Genetics).
