Board of Medical Genetics
ABMG accredits medical genetics training programs, certifies medical
geneticists through examinations, and offers maintenance of certification to diplomates of the
ABMG. The Board also works to encourage the study and improve the
practice of medical genetics.

Medical Genetics
ACMG is the professional society that advances the practice of medical genetics in the United
States by providing education, resources, and a voice for the profession.
Fellowship in the ACMG requires diplomate status in the ABMG.

ASGT is the largest medical professional organization representing
researchers and scientists dedicated to discovering new gene therapies.
The society encourages research involving gene therapy and promotes professional and public education in all areas of
the field.

Society of Hematology
ASH is the world's
largest professional society concerned with the causes and treatment
of blood disorders. It promotes research, clinical care, education, training, and advocacy in hematology.

Society of Human Genetics
ASHG is the professional society that advances the science of human genetics internationally.
Its nearly 8,000 members include
researchers, academicians, clinicians, laboratory practice professionals,
genetic counselors, nurses and others involved in or with special
interest in human genetics.
- Association
of Professors of Human and Medical Genetics
The Association promotes human and medical genetics educational programs in North American medical and graduate schools. More than
90 institutions are members.
- National Coalition
for Health Care Provider Education in Genetics
An interdisciplinary organization of organizations, NCHPEG is a national effort to promote health
professional education and access to information about advances in
human genetics.
- National Organization for
Rare Disorders
NORD is a federation of voluntary health organizations dedicated to helping people with rare "orphan" diseases and assisting the organizations that serve them.
It sponsors programs of education, advocacy, research, and service.
- National Society of
Genetic Counselors
NSGC is the leading voice, authority, and advocate
for the genetic counseling profession. It promotes genetic
counseling as a recognized and
integral part of health care delivery, research, education and public
policy.
