emergency

Welcome to your Harborview Medicine Rotation!
The orientation materials and Medical Service schedules for your rotation are linked further down the page. You can also find general information regarding the Medicine Clerkship at http://depts.washington.edu/medclerk/drupal/.

The first day of your medicine clerkship is on Monday, May 21st.

Prior to your first day, please review the following materials:

We also recommend you deal with two other issues PRIOR to starting the clerkship:

Computer Access

To make your first day easier, please remember to obtain a temporary login and password for the Online Record of Clinical Activity (ORCA) system. You can obtain an ORCA login and password by calling the UW Medicine IT Services Help Desk at (206) 543-7012. If they are unavailable, please call Angie Wick (206-543-3237) or Hannah Song (206-744-3361).

Badges & Parking

Monday-Friday
7am-4:30pm
8EH-69
Phone: 744-3254

The Badging and Parking office is located on 8 East Hospital. Obtain your Harborview ID badge from the Badging Office at the start of the rotation if you do not already have one. Bring valid ID (driver's license or passport-your UWMC badge does not count). If you need a signature on your Harborview ID badge form, please contact Hannah Song or go to 10EH06.

Please note that parking is tight at HMC, and we recommended that you take the Metro or Health Sciences shuttle from UWMC if at all possible. Pay per use parking can be arranged at the Badging and Parking office.

Please contact Ashley Jones via email to confirm your attendance.

Readings for Perspective on the Student Experience

Students who thrive at Harborview see themselves as vital team members and act accordingly. They consistently place their patients' needs above other priorities. These essays reflect on the attitudes, values, and actions we value most highly. You will be busy during the rotation, but if you read one of these each week, you will understand our perspective better. Begin with Francis Peabody's essay, especially the section on "Student Opportunities in the Hospital."

If you have further questions please page or email us.

We look forward to working with you at Harborview.
