The second edition of
Outpatient Medicine, an at-a-glance resource on more than 200 common clinical conditions, has been translated into French and Italian. The publisher is W. B. Saunders, the imprint of Harcourt International.
The editors are Stephan Fihn, professor and head of the Division of General Internal Medicine, and Dawn DeWitt, assistant professor of medicine. DeWitt is the WWAMI coordinator for internal medicine and the internal medicine liaison for the Rural/Underserved Opportunities Program (R/UOP).
The guide, written for primary-care clinicians, residents and medical students, provides concise summaries for each condition. These summaries include symptoms, screening, diagnosis, prevention, treatment, frequently ordered and performed procedures, medications, and follow-up. The authors also discuss general aspects of ambulatory care, medical interviewing, and ethics.
