Fetal Alcohol Syndrome:
A Guide for Families and Communities

Fetal Alcohol Syndrome: A Guide for Families and Communities

Psychologist Ann Streissguth discusses the scientific and historical understanding of the effects of alcohol consumption on offspring, as well as how to identify Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS), work with children and adults who have it, talk to families about it, and prevent its occurrence through community education and an advocacy model of support and intervention for high-risk mothers.

Streissguth was among the first to study fetal alcohol behavioral problems, and headed the largest study of FAS secondary disabilities in people of all ages.
