Bremner named chair of the Department of Medicine

William J. Bremner has been named chair of the Department of Medicine, subject to confirmation by the UW Board of Regents. He has been vice chair of the department since 1987. (more)

Alaska WWAMI to increase opportunities for medical students

Alaska WWAMI will increase clinical training opportunities for UW medical students; expansion starts with selecting sites for Alaska's first WRITE program and for another family medicine clerkship. (more)

Endowed chair for shoulder research established

Douglas T. Harryman II, associate professor of orthopaedics, has been named the first holder of the E. A. Codman/DePuy Orthopaedics Professorship in Shoulder Research. (more)

Many assist in aftermath of bus crash

Many off-duty medical school faculty, including clinical faculty at Seattle area hospitals, were among the volunteers who reported in to help immediately after hearing that a city bus had plummeted from Seattle's Aurora Bridge Friday afternoon, Nov. 27. The crash left 32 injured and three dead. (more)
