Sixteen American Indian and Alaska Native communities in Washington, Oregon, Alaska, Montana and Idaho have been selected for a National Libraries of Medicine program that will connect them to the Internet. (more)
Seventeen UW medical students attended the American Medical Association (AMA)--Medical Student Section 1998 Interim Meeting last month in Honolulu. Twelve represented the six WWAMI campuses as delegates or alternates. Five served in leadership positions. (more)
The Jan. 7 issue of the New England Journal of Medicine contained the most encouraging study to date suggesting that tobramycin can be used as an inhaled treatment for cystic fibrosis patients with Pseudomonas aeruginosa lung infections. (more)
The UW Physicians logo is now federally registered as a
national trademark. The logo is composed of the letters "UW"
reversed out of a purple flag that slightly overlaps a gold
flag with the word "Physicians" in purple.
