Patricia W. Wahl, a leading biostatistician and public-health educator, has been named dean of the University of Washington School of Public Health and Community Medicine. The appointment is subject to confirmation by the UW Board of Regents at its next regular meeting Feb. 19. (more)

David W. Russell, assistant professor of medicine in the Division of Hematology, was featured in the recent March of Dimes Research Annual Report. The report highlighted his work on gene therapy delivery systems. (more)
UW biochemistry graduate student Christopher R.R. Bjornson is first author
of a study published recently in Science suggesting that adult stem cells
can be altered to become the progenitor cells for other types of tissue.
