UW statistics for residency match reported
This year at the UW, 160 senior medical students and seven
sponsored graduates participated in the National Residency
Matching Program and other placement mechanisms such as the
Armed Services Matches and Advanced Specialties Matching.

Sinanan named UWMC chief of staff-elect
Mika Sinanan, associate professor of surgery and director of
the Surgical Specialties Clinic, was elected UW Medical Center
chief of staff by his peers. He will begin a two-year term on
July 1, 2001.

Van Loon Sheffield, coordinator for the internal medicine
clerkship site at Harborview
Medical Center, will be the
speaker at the 1999 Investiture of Doctoral Hoods and
Hippocratice Oath Ceremony. The ceremony will take place
Saturday, June 5, in Meany Hall.
For the sixth year in a row, the UW School of Medicine is ranked
as the nation's top primary-care medical school in the U.S. News &
World Report's annual survey of graduate and professional schools.
