Students help design elective clerkship
An interest in enhancing their doctor/patient communication
skills in actual patient-care settings led Angel Platas and
Kim O'Connor, both fourth-year medical students, to help
create an elective clerkship on this topic.

Wong named director of Women's Health Care Center
Emily Y. Wong, assistant professor of medicine, has been named
director of the Women's Health Care Center at UW Medical
Center, effective May 1. Wong, an attending physician at the
center since 1995, also directs the Center of Excellence in
Women's Health.

Festschrift to honor family medicine leaders Geyman and Phillips
The Society of Teachers of Family Medicine will hold a
festschrift April 29 to honor two leaders in the education of
family physicians, Ted Phillips and John Geyman, past chairs
and professors emeriti of family medicine. The festschrift
will be a special session of the society's annual national
conference, which will be in Seattle this year.
