Local health departments surveyed by WWAMI workforce studies center
In one of its first studies, the new WWAMI Center for Health
Workforce Studies is conducting a survey to increase knowledge of local
health departments in the region and determine how the UW can assist
these agencies.

The UW School of Medicine is establishing an institute to
investigate ways to interface new technology with biology and
study how molecules are organized to control the functions of

Ritchie to hold endowed chair
In recognition of outstanding leadership and contributions to
his field, James
L. Ritchie, professor of medicine and
director of the Division
of Cardiology, has been appointed to hold the
Robert A. Bruce Endowed Chair in Cardiovascular Research.
Robert A. Bruce, who created the standardized
treadmill test, served as the founding director of cardiology from
1950 until his retirement in 1982.
